The weight is eavenly distribuated from the top to the hips. The pack is incredibly comfortable to wear with a heavy load. The hip belt also adjusts to the sides when you tilt over at one side. Double and reinforced stitching everywhere. From the webbing to stiches and everything else. The quality of this pack is just something I’ve never seen on packs before. It’s silly to pack 20 pounds into a 8-10 pounds backpack, making the pack’s weight a third a of the complete weight.īut for 40 to 70 lbs, the weight of the pack doesn’t matter that much, and you do get something in return for the relatively high weight (more in the next section). With these numbers, these packs are wasted on small loadings. The Recon pack has a cool slogan by Norrona, by the way: “The King of Backpacks’ developed by Special Forces. Norrona has another pack in the same league called Norrona Recon Synkroflex Pack (125 L), which weighs even more, at 4,5 kg or 10 pounds. Military use is usually a good sign of durability, but not always a sign of comfort. The pack is actually used by the Norwegian Special Forces and forces in other NATO countries. That’s when we started researching big packs and stumbled over the Para Ranger.Īs far as I know, this pack is the result of years of collaboration between Norrona and the Norwegian armed forces. And we have a 65 liter pack from Bergans of Norway already but wanted a bigger pack for longer hikes, or just to bring more stuff □ I usually bring my grilfriend and dog on these trips. So, when going backpacking over several days, I’m not excactly the lighets backpacker.
